Yes we all know that Vitamins are really important and key to good health. We have probably been recommended vitamins or decided to take it on our own after reading an article or hearing someone take it and it had a great impact on their lives.
But should we supplement or not?
Vitamins or no vitamins – that is the question!
Being part of the wellness industry, I absolutely advocate a good balanced diet (good nutrition and a healthy, balanced lifestyle). One must try and get all his/her vitamins from this, but then on the other hand, if an individual say for example has stomach issues, such as celiac disease then vitamin absorption may be compromised and supplementation is imperative.
Like every theory in nutrition there are multiple studies that directly oppose each other. There is evidence supporting that vitamin can help prevent diseases and increase lifespan while other studies contradict and believe that they have no effect on human body.
Listen to your body and make your own judgement. Make an informed decision and check with your doctor. Don’t just take it because everyone else is doing it.
Food has an impact on everything and what you put into your mouth should be looked at and it should be balanced and of best quality before you turn to vitamins.
Some signs and symptoms that may indicate that supplements are right for you:
- Brain fog or hair loss
- Chronic Fatigue
- Thyroid condition
- Digestive issues
- High stress lifestyle
- Diagnosable disease or condition that puts you at a disadvantage
- Long term vegan with low energy.
As mentioned check with your doctor and try one or two supplements at a time and see for your self if it has an effect. Keep in mind the placebo effect.
With hundreds of brands in an approximate 30 billion dollar industry, quality is of utmost importance. As a health coach I highly recommend quality in anything that you ingest, so do your homework and choose your vitamins carefully.
